Art Show 2019!
The theme of the Art Show for the Spring of 2019 was "On the Way To Cape May!" The first grade students sang that famous song in their spring concert, "Songs at the Seashore," so I thought it would be a fun theme for everyone! The special areas hallway was completely transformed beyond recognition in order mimic the journey to Cape May. Art Show visitors started in Ocean City, then travelled to Stone Harbor/Avalon, Morey's Piers in Wildwood, Washington Street Mall in the Heart of Cape May, and finally ending the pristine Cape May beaches! (Skip to 5 minutes and 45 seconds in the video to hear the first graders sing "On the Way to Cape May during their concerts!)

Ms. Caplan's Dress |

It has become a tradition that each year the students help Ms. Caplan design a dress for her to wear. This year's dress was special because it was for the art show! I painted polaroid pictures on the dress to represent the different places that were visited on our way to Cape May. Each student then drew a sea creature on the dress in order to add their mark. I outlined the sea creatures on the back of the dress in neon fabric paint, so they would glow in the Black Light room!

The Mitnick Art Show made it into the newspaper! Exit Zero, a local magazine and newspaper, attended the art show and featured myself, my students, and their guests in the paper! It makes me so happy to see the huge smiles on everyone's faces and to see that so many of my students invited their family members to this event! It was a great night, and I am glad it was documented in such a wonderful newspaper. Click HERE to view Exit Zero's website and to flip through a copy yourself.
